ADOPTION~ What does it really mean?
Is it the act of taking something on as your own. Legally taking a child to be taken care of as your own. The process of starting to use a new method, system, or law. The act of embracing ideas, habits, or free kittens?
... On this blog, we're talking about legally taking a child to be a part of your family.
The answer really depends on who you ask.
Parents migh feel thrilled. Adopted children range from the sadness of "why didn't my parents love me enough to keep me to "I'm grateful for the parents who adopted me."
Last but certainly not least, there are the parents who for one reason or another made the sacrifice to give up a child for raising a child.
Globa Munkins adoption quotes:
“Every child deserves a home and love. Period.” – Dave Thomas
“Every single minute matters, every single child matters, every single childhood matters.” – Kailash Satyathi
“There are no unwanted children, just unfound families.” – The National Adoption Center
“Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone. But still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute, you didn’t grow under my heart but in it.” – Fleur Conkling Heyliger
I've had the privlege of experiencing the joy and beautiful expressions of love through the eyes of my beloved colleagues who made room in their lives for adoption.
I have three, yes-three step-mothers, spiritual moms, and mentor-mothers of my best friends, who adopted me and love me unconditionally.
I know that feeling of love all too well, and I like being that smothering blanket for others. I have several adopted children: those in my congregation, my nieces and nephews, my daughter's friends, and my students.
Adoption is a GIFT for those on the giving and receiving end - for those privileged to feel wanted, needed, special and loved.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU FOUND OUT YOU WERE ADOPTED?
Would that LOVE you have for your adoptive parents change?
Would you search to find your real parents?
